GEO Audit Checklist: The 12 Checks
A GEO audit checks whether AI search systems can reach your pages, identify your business, quote an answer from the page, confirm it elsewhere, and whether you can measure any of it. These twelve checks are in priority order, each with a pass test and the free tool or guide that runs it. Tick them off; progress is saved in your browser.

Access
If the search and user agents cannot fetch the page, nothing else matters.
Identity
Assistants retrieve entities. A business they cannot identify cannot be recommended.
Quotability
A citation is a sentence. Claude documents quoting up to 150 characters; the sentence has to exist.
Corroboration
Sources you do not control confirm what your site says.
Measurement
Without a baseline you cannot tell a trend from a lucky run.
Want the twelve checks run on your site, with the fixes written out?
The automated audit covers access, identity and quotability on any page; the written audit covers your service pages, index coverage and a prompt panel.
Common questions
How long does the checklist take?
The access and identity checks take under an hour with the free tools. Quotability is a page-by-page rewrite of your key pages. Corroboration and measurement are ongoing; the first baseline takes an afternoon.
Which check matters most?
Access. A 403 to a search or user agent, or a page that is not indexed, makes every other check irrelevant for that page. The checklist is in priority order for that reason.
Does this replace an SEO audit?
No. It sits on top of one. Google documents that AI Overviews and AI Mode use ordinary indexing and snippet eligibility, so a technical SEO audit is the prerequisite and this list covers what AI search adds.
Can Webvello run it for me?
Yes. The free AI visibility audit runs the automated checks on your pages, and the written audit covers the rest with the fixes written out.
